Frequently Asked Questions

Shipping Information

At Wild Light Garden Collective we ship plants in pots and sometimes as bareroots, depending on the variety. Shrubs will often ship as bare roots, for example. Our goal is to ship your plants at the right time and in the form that causes the least stress to them, which means the plants can adapt, grow and thrive in your garden. We will not ship our plants in extreme heat or cold conditions and will communicate in a timely way if we need to hold your plants or refund your order due to inclement weather conditions. We ship plants Monday-Wednesday each week, to minimize the chance of live plants sitting in shipping centers for stretches of time. We ship priority mail for this reason.

On each product page in the "Planting Information" chart, the "Ships As" box will tell you the form of the plant.

Potted plants can be in different stages when they are shipped, depending on their life cycle and the time of year. Look for healthy root systems with white fibers. Plants are typically pruned back before shipping to reduce damage in transit. With appropriate care our plants will spring to life in your garden!

At certain times of the year you may receive dormant plants, with no top growth, or dried-out foliage. Please avoid overwatering until you see active growth. Perennials can take time to become established, but we take every step to be sure the plants you receive are healthy, vigorous and acclimated. If you have any concerns or questions once you receive your plants, please reach out - we are here to help you along in your gardening journey!

Plants ship in these sizes:

3.5” diameter by 3.5” tall (low-growing herbs and some low-growing perennials)

3.5” diameter by 5” tall (taller herbs and perennials)

Bare root (shrubs)

Refund Policy

However, if a plant does not survive transit, we are happy to send a one-time complimentary replacement of the same product. If we do not have the same product available, we will offer a suitable replacement of your choice or a refund. Factors beyond our control, including human error, weather, aesthetic preferences, and damage caused by wildlife or pests, are not eligible for refund. Live plants, such as potted perennials, shrubs, herbs and bare roots, cannot be returned. Shipping costs are non-refundable.

Please give your new plants time to establish and settle in their new home and reach out to us if you have any questions or need support.

It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that the products they purchase are well suited for their landscape, gardening zone, and conditions.

Thank you for your understanding!

Our Growing Practices

At Wild Light Garden Collective we grow plants with the whole ecosystem in mind. For this reason, we never spray or use chemicals on our plants. On rare occasions we may utilize an OMRI-approved insect control method. We are not certified organic, but we are growing plants as close to nature intended as possible. Each plant is grown from either seed or a small start. We hand-transplant several times to get our plants ready for shipment. Our plants are grown in heated greenhouses when they are small (necessary when you are growing in West Virginia in the wintertime!) and then they move outdoors to become hardened off, once night-time temperatures reach above freezing. We pride ourselves on growing healthy and hardy plants. Though, if a plant does not survive transit, please reach out to us right away to discuss securing a replacement or refund.
